Old as Time

So, for the longest time, I have been desperate for a pocket watch! Everytime that I pass a jewellers window, I don't look at the rings or anything. No. I gaze longingly at the antique pocket watches! However, unluckily for me, most of the nice ones that I see are upwards of £150. I still used to dream though of eventually owning one.
Well, today my dream came true! I was wandering round some antique shops in my lunchbreak today and I came across the most amazing pocket watch for - get this - £45!! I was very pleased with myself. It's the most beautiful thing I have ever seen, so I just had to have it. I put the deposit down for it today because I didn't have much cash with me, but I'm going to pick it up tomorrow. Yay! I'm in love... I have images of wearing this beautiful timepiece on a lovely long chain round my neck. I can't wait to pick it up!
Hopefully, I'll have some picture to show very soon!

Eek!

Eek, I'm so sorry! It's been a month since I last posted. Things have been kind of crazy what with college and such. I promise that I will try and catch up in the days ahead. I do have things to blog about...

"Couch Potatoez"

Wow, how much do you want this sofa?! Look how colourful and fun it looks! I think having this in my house would make me very happy. It's made by a girl called Breanne Trammell. You can visit her site here, where you can see the other cool stuff she's made. Like pillows! Pillows are fun.

Because she was just so stylish...

Is this dress not the most beautiful, heavenly dress ever?! With it's lovely blue colour and the ruffley cuffs and collar, what is there not to like? And I love the name of it. The Olive Oyl Dress. I can really see her in this. I love the beautiful hat they paired this with too.

Go check it out at http://clotheslinediaz.com/, where you can see other beautiful designs. I especially recommend looking at the Peter Pan dress too. Absolutely adorable!!

What is the world coming to?

I'm writing this post in response to reading an article in the newspaper today. Apparently, certain shops are now going to be stocking UK size 4. The infamous size 0. This is including Topshop and H&M. Now is it me or does this not seem incredibly wrong?!

In a world in which eating disorders are becoming more and more common, is this not encouraging girls to get this skinny? Being a UK size 4 is not natural. Not in most people anyway. Very VERY few girls are this thin naturally.

Couple all of this with the shrinking girls on the runway and in the media, I am not at all surprised that a lot of girls feel under pressure to lose weight. I know that sometimes I do! But this is wrong. I should not feel like this, and neither should anyone else. We need to be encouraging girls to live a healthy lifestyle, not starving themselves thin so that they can be a part of the size zero club.

I'm very disappointed in hearing all of this. Especially about my beloved Topshop! I expected more from them! I just hope that sometime soon, the trend will change and a healthy body shape will become the new size 0.

What are your thoughts on this? Do you agree with me or do you believe that there is nothing wrong with this?

...And All That Jazz

So, reading NYLON a while ago, I came across an article on jazz shoes. At once, I was interested because I, too, am getting slightly bored of seeing everyone in the WORLD wearing ballet flats. Apparently, Hedi Slimane has started making them and so now, a whole new interest in jazz shoes has started.
And I say Yay! Because I'm very much feeling this trend. They are the most comfortable things to wear, plus I love how they look on your feet. I've been wearing mine with thick wooly grey tights or my black straight leg jeans. They also most definitely fit in with the whole androgynous trend that's around at the moment.

So, what is your opinion on this? Do you think I'm crazy for liking them, or are you, too, feeling like dancing down the street?
